The Sundogs formed in 1988 in Ames, Iowa, where members had been attending school at Iowa State and playing with each other in assorted reggae and funk bands. The band built momentum in towns around the Midwest as it worked its way farther and farther from home. By the mid 90's the Sundogs had played venues in Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Original members were Chip Hanson, Rick Dressler, Dan Lodden, Matt Triplett, and Stephanie Boggs Petrick. Second and current drummer Jeff Worrall joined the band in 1992. The Sundogs style is influenced by roots reggae, rock, country, soul, and dubby psychedelia and is best experienced when wearing shoes to dance in (or no shoes at all). The Sundogs have recorded two albums, one of which is available in the Shop.
Besides playing music the Sundogs love nature, good food and drink, their friends and family, and the chance to combine any of those elements together.
The current lineup of the Sundogs is: Chip Hanson, Guitar/vocals Rick Dressler, Guitar/vocals Dan Lodden/Bass Jeff Worrall/Drums/vocals
